The authors report the development of psychosis in a young woman coinciding with excessive use of the online communication system Twitter and the results of an experimental account to argue that Twitter may have a high potential to induce psychosis in predisposed users.

In 1916, Wimmer described psychogenic psychosis as psychosis secondary to mental trauma. Psychogenic psychoses are currently included in acute and transient psychotic disorders (F23) in the ICD-10 and in the brief psychotic disorders (298,8) in the DSM-IV-TR. We present a case report of psychogenic psychosis in a 39 year-old female and analyze it with the predisposition-trauma mental model.

There is clinical uncertainty as to whether borderline personality disorder (BPD) traits in those with an 'at risk mental state' have an effect on the risk of 'transition' to psychosis. We aimed to investigate the relationship between baseline BPD features, risk of transition and type of psychotic disorder experienced.
This is a case-control study of 'ultra high risk' (UHR) for psychosis patients treated at the clinic, between 2004 and 2007.
