The mechanisms facilitating hypertension in diabetes still remain to be elucidated. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which is a higher risk factor for insulin resistance, shares many predisposing factors with diabetes. However, little work has been performed on the pathogenesis of hypertension in type 2 diabetes (T2DM) with NAFLD.

Prediabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are believed to be common and associated with a worse metabolic profile in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, no previous study has systematically screened this population.
We studied the prevalence and the metabolic impact of prediabetes and T2DM in 118 patients with NAFLD.

To compare and explore metabolic risk factors related to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
A total of 389 in-patients with T2DM (DM group, 204 cases) and T2DM with NAFLD (DM+NAFLD group, 185 cases) were enrolled in the study between October 2012 and July 2013. Clinical data collected for analysis included levels of blood lipids, liver function markers, uric acid (UA) and insulin, as well as results from the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and C peptide releasing test.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an emerging problem in Asia, but little is known about the disease in the nonobese population. The aims of this study were to investigate the prevalence of NAFLD and the factors associated with it in a nonobese Korean population and to compare the clinical characteristics of nonobese and obese subjects with NAFLD.
This cross-sectional study used data from 2,058 subjects who participated in a medical checkup program.
