To evaluate the effects of intra-arterial chemotherapy on retrobulbar blood flow parameters in patients with retinoblastoma.

The gracillimus orbitis muscle is an anomalous, accessory, or supernumerary extraocular muscle that, although is rarely seen clinically in the human orbit, has been identified in 5% to 14% of dissected cadaver orbits. It arises from the medial surface of the levator near its origin and runs forward between the levator and superior oblique muscles resembling one of the other extraocular muscles. More anteriorly, it becomes thinner, less well defined, and mostly fibrous.

The mass was associated with enophthalmos and slowly increased in size with Valsalva maneuver. Vision loss following sclerotherapy for facial vascular malformations (VMs) is a rare but detrimental complication. Here, we report a case of an 11-year-old boy with acute onset blepharoptosis, ophthalmoplegia, and blindness in his right eye after the 14 th sclerotherapy session (percutaneous intralesional injection of sodium tetradecyl sulfate) for a right facial low-flow VM without orbital involvement. Computed tomography angiography revealed no contrast enhancement in the right ophthalmic artery, superior ophthalmic vein, or extraocular muscles.

Extant crocodilians are a highly apomorphic archosaur clade that is ectothermic, yet often achieve large body sizes that can be subject to higher heat loads. Therefore, the anatomical and physiological roles that blood vessels play in crocodilian thermoregulation need further investigation to better understand how crocodilians establish and maintain cephalic temperatures and regulate neurosensory tissue temperatures during basking and normal activities. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether the presence of any stage retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) alters central retinal artery (CRA) and ophthalmic artery (OA) blood flow parameters in premature infants. Arteriovenous fistulae of the orbit are exceedingly rare. They are high-flow vascular malformations involving a fistula from the ophthalmic artery to one of the draining ophthalmic veins. Presenting symptoms can mimic those of carotid cavernous fistulae or of ophthalmic venous varices, and include diplopia, proptosis, chemosis, decreased visual acuity, and retro-orbital pain.

To evaluate using Doppler ultrasonography (DUS) how pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) affects orbital circulation in diffuse diabetic macular edema (DME) associated with either the epiretinal membrane (ERM) or taut posterior hyaloid (TPH).
The sample included 46 eyes of 42 patients with DME associated with the ERM (n = 22, Group 1) or TPH (n = 24, Group 2). All participants received panretinal laser photocoagulation and antivascular endothelial growth factor injections preoperatively and underwent 23-gauge PPV combined with ERM or TPH removal and internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling.

A case of double ophthalmic arteries arising from the internal carotid artery with unique features is reported. Dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) are fistulas connecting the branches of dural arteries to dural veins or a venous sinus. Osteodural fistulas are a rare subset of this group of diseases. Data on the outcomes of elderly patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) who undergo orbital atherectomy are limited. This analysis compares the procedural and acute angiographic outcomes of PAD patients treated with orbital atherectomy stratified by age (≥ 75 years of age [elderly] vs <75 years of age [younger]).
The CONFIRM registry series with non-missing age was analyzed and included 2995 real-world PAD patients (4557 lesions) with 1753 younger patients (2637 lesions) and 1242 elderly patients (1920 lesions) treated with orbital atherectomy.

Some branches of the internal maxillary artery have anastomoses with the inferolateral trunk that are important as intracranial-extracranial collateral pathways and as dangerous anastomoses for transarterial embolization of these branches. We present here an undescribed branch potentially anastomosing with the anteromedial branch of the inferolateral trunk, which is provisionally named the artery of the superior orbital fissure, defined as an arterial branch from the pterygopalatine segment of the maxillary artery to the orbital apex at the superior orbital fissure.
Two neuroradiologists reviewed 3D and MPR images of the external and/or common carotid artery with particular interest paid to the artery of the superior orbital fissure in 54 patients who underwent 3D angiography with a field of view covering the pterygopalatine fossa and the cavernous sinus.

Typically, the medial orbital wall contains an anterior ethmoidal foramen (EF) and a posterior EF, but may also have multiple EFs transmitting the arteries and nerves between the orbit and the anterior cranial fossa.
