Masses in and near the interatrial septum may be either benign or malignant. The most common mass near the interatrial septum is lipomatous atrial septal hypertrophy (LASH). LASH can be present in patients with intracardiac malignancies, myxomas, lipomas, or other cardiac masses.

Intracardiac heterotopic liver is a very rare entity. The most unique aspect of this entity is the increased carcinogenic potential of the tissue. This condition must be considered when assessing an intracardiac mass along with more common differential diagnoses such as neoplasms, thrombi, and vegetations.

We experienced a 45-year-old Japanese man who was transferred to our hospital complaining of acute onset of pain and pallor in the right lower limb. Two years earlier, he had complained of repetitive pain at rest and pallor in the left third and fourth fingers. The physical exam and angiography demonstrated occlusion of finger arteries, however we could not reach final diagnosis.

Intravascular leiomyomatosis (IVL) is a benign smooth muscle tumor that evolves from the pelvic veins and can spread to the central veins and heart. Cardiac involvement is the most commonly reported presentation. Initial diagnosis is difficult, and IVL is commonly misdiagnosed as thrombus or atrial myxoma.

Thanks to Raut et al.[1] for appreciating our efforts in managing the case of biatrial myxomas. A brief discussion is warranted here on the types, size of cardiac myxomas, interleukin 6 (IL-6) levels, left ventricle (LV) dysfunction, and their relation.

Ischemic stroke is uncommon in pediatric populations and is sometimes caused by cardiac myxoma. In such cases, neurological deficits initially present in ischemic stroke due to emboli or thrombi of the myxoma. Echocardiography is helpful to diagnose myxoma in a timely manner and allows urgent surgical resection of the myxoma.

Large intracavitary masses such as those occupying most of a cardiac chamber and obstructing blood flow are not routinely encountered in clinical practice. The differential diagnosis includes neoplastic as well as nonneoplastic causes. Primary cardiac tumors by themselves are uncommon.

Although a small number of atrial myxomas are found in association with congenital cardiac defects, ventricular myxomas coexisting with congenital cardiac anomalies are extremely rare. We report a case of right ventricular (RV) myxoma coexistent with atrioventricular septal defect in an adolescent. Echocardiography showed an RV mass, a small ostium primum atrial septal defect, and a cleft of the left atrioventricular valve.

The most common primary cardiac tumor is myxoma, typically originating in the left atrium. Emboli to the central nervous system can cause cerebral infarction or, rarely, seed tumor growth within vessel walls, causing myxomatous aneurysms. Fewer than 60 myxomatous aneurysms have been reported, including 2 cases in children.

Left atrial appendage mass can occasionally pose a serious challenge to physicians to identify the nature of the mass with the aid of imaging techniques. We present a case of 67-year-old man, who was evaluated for suspected left atria myxoma. Transesophageal echocardiography revealed a heterogeneous density originating from left atrial appendage, thought to be most consistent with a myxoma.

Bilateral recurrence of atrial myxoma has been reported only a few times. We describe the case of a 41-year-old woman who had undergone left atrial myxoma resection and presented 9 years later with myxomas in both atria. The patient underwent successful resection of both masses with resolution of symptoms.

Atrial myxoma is a benign tumor of the heart that occurs primarily in the left atrium. Floating or large left atrial myxomas frequently cause functional mitral stenosis, may also affect mitral valve structure and flow, and lead to mitral regurgitation. Systemic embolization occurs in around 30% of cases either from tumor fragmentation or complete tumor detachment hence it should be removed as soon as it is detected.

The median sternotomy remains the standard approach in cardiovascular surgery but, in some conditions, it can be considered difficult to perform, especially in patients with history of esophagectomy. This case report describes a successful resection of a left atrial myxoma through a right anterolateral thoracotomy approach in a patient with a previous retrosternal gastric tube reconstruction. The decision for the best surgical approach was made after a heart surgery team discussion.

We report an unusual presentation of a large left atrial myxoma in an eight-year-old girl who presented with the sudden onset of chorea. This case illustrates the fact that the presentation of chorea in nonendemic areas for rheumatic fever should raise suspicion for a myxoma. The chorea resolved soon after removal of the myxoma, supporting the hypothesis of an immune-mediated mechanism, or manifestation of paraneoplastic syndrome secondary to the myxoma.

We report a rare case in which a patient required three surgeries with competing priorities. In a 68-year-old man diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), computed tomography (CT) revealed an infrarenal AAA, unusual thickening of the sigmoid colon that suggested cancer, and a filling defect in the left atrium. We considered the disease stage, which affects prognosis, and the risk of complications that could interfere with the treatment of the other pathologies and developed a three-stage surgical strategy: (i) endovascular aortic repair, (ii) sigmoid colectomy, and (iii) resection of the left atrial mass.

Acute renal infarction (ARI) is an uncommon disease and delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis often leads to rapid deterioration of the patient. As patients with atrial fibrillation and left atrial myxomas are at risk of developing ARI due to cardiogenic thromboembolism, it is pivotal for clinicians to make a correct diagnosis and start a timely treatment. The present study reported on the case of a 68-year-old man who suffered from ARI secondary to thromboembolism associated with atrial fibrillation and left atrial myxomas.

Pulmonary vein thrombosis (PVT) is a challenging diagnosis and has been described in association with or as a complication of pulmonary tumors, lung surgeries, atrial myxoma, and after radiofrequency catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation. There are not many reported cases of PVT associated with medication use. We present a case of a 53-year-old male with a history of severe persistent asthma on omalizumab, who presented with shortness of breath and was found to have PVT on computed tomography scan of the chest.

A 28-year-old pregnant woman presented at 28 weeks of gestation. She was diagnosed to have a left atrial myxoma 2 years earlier, but was lost to follow-up. During this pregnancy, the transthoracic echocardiography showed a 9 cm mass in the left atrium obstructing mitral valve inflow, interfering with mitral valve closure, causing severe mitral regurgitation and severe pulmonary hypertension.
