The immunosuppression vital to maintaining transplanted organs comes with an increased incidence of cutaneous neoplasms. Understanding the genesis of malignant melanoma (MM) in transplant subpopulations is necessary for adequate disease surveillance.
To determine the incidence and timing of presentation of MM in the cardiothoracic (heart and/or lung) transplant (CTT) population.

Primary pleomorphic sarcoma of the left atrium is a rare tumor. There is no actual evidence of the management of this pathological entity, so the main treatment is individualized, surgical management being the cornerstone of the treatment. We present a 78-year-old female who had a clinical picture of heart failure, documenting an atrial mass of the left atrium, with high-grade pleomorphic sarcoma revealed in histopathology.

Primary vascular tumors such as vascular leiomyosarcomas are rare, but exhibit markedly different characteristics than tumors that invade the vasculature from a secondary source. Establishing a diagnosis is essential in determining the appropriate treatment plan, but obtaining a histologic specimen may prove challenging and carry significant risks. Minimally invasive endovascular biopsy techniques can be pivotal in the diagnosis-and thus in the management-of vascular tumors.

Primary cardiac angiosarcoma is a rare tumor and the common treatment is surgical resection followed by chemotherapy. Peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) are widely used in cancer patients and ultrasound-guided PICC insertion could improve success rate especially in patient with abnormal anatomy structure. Reports about PICCs being placed in patient who had suffered from the cardiac angiosarcoma and neoplasty of right atrium with an ipsilateral cardiac permanent pacemaker are rarely.

Primary cardiac lymphomas represent approximately 1% to 2% of primary cardiac neoplasms and 5% of malignant cardiac neoplasms. Here we present a case of sudden unexpected death of a middle-aged male resulting from an unusually large cardiac B-cell lymphoma. The neoplasm infiltrated the myocardium of the right atrium and ventricle and, to a lesser extent, the wall of the left atrium and pulmonary trunk.

Although gemcitabine plus cisplatin has been established as the standard first-line chemotherapy for patients with advanced biliary tract cancer (BTC), overall prognosis remains poor. We investigated the efficacy of a novel triplet combination of oxaliplatin, irinotecan, and S-1 (OIS) for advanced BTC.
Chemotherapy-naive patients with histologically documented unresectable or metastatic BTC were eligible for this multicenter, single-arm phase II study.

Cancer is thought to arise through the accumulation of genomic aberrations evolving under Darwinian selection. However, it remains unclear when the aberrations associated with metastasis emerge during tumor evolution. Uveal melanoma (UM) is the most common primary eye cancer and frequently leads to metastatic death, which is strongly linked to BAP1 mutations.

Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are chronic blood disorders caused by clonal expansion in one or more myeloid lineages and include essential thrombocythemia (ET), polycythemia vera (PV), primary myelofibrosis (PMF) and chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Cardiovascular events are a main challenge for patients with MPN and can lead to their death.
JAK2V617F mutation is observed in Philadelphia-negative MPNs such as ET and PV, increasing the risk of cardiovascular complications in these patients.

Thymic malignancies are the most common tumors of the anterior mediastinum. The benefit of adjuvant radiation therapy for stage II disease remains controversial, and patients treated with adjuvant radiation therapy are at risk of late complications, including radiation-induced secondary malignant neoplasms (SMNs), that may reduce the overall benefit of treatment. We assess the risk of predicted SMNs following adjuvant proton radiation therapy compared with photon radiation therapy after resection of stage II thymic malignancies to determine whether proton therapy improves the risk-benefit ratio.
