The objective of this study was to describe and quantify the impact of caring for a child with Dravet syndrome (DS) on caregivers.
We surveyed DS caregivers at a single institution with a large population of patient with DS. Survey domains included time spent/difficulty performing caregiving tasks (Oberst Caregiving Burden Scale, OCBS); caregiver health-related quality of life (EuroQoL 5D-5L, EQ-5D); and work/activity impairment (Work Productivity and Activity Impairment questionnaire, WPAI).

: Adjustment disorder (AjD) was redefined for ICD-11 with core symptoms of preoccupation with a stressor and failure to adapt. The socio-interpersonal framework model for stress-response syndromes suggests that interpersonal factors, besides intrapersonal processes, substantially contribute to the development of AjD.: The current study aimed to identify predictive factors in the development of AjD symptoms by the application of a framework model for stress-response syndromes.

Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) elevates the cholesterol level and increases the risk of coronary events and death. Early detection and treatment reduce this risk. We aimed to determine the cost-effectiveness of FH screening in Poland in children, first job takers, and after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS) event, each followed by a cascade screening in the relatives of the positively-diagnosed subjects.

Dominant negative mutations in STAT3, a critical signaling molecule and transcription factor in multiple organ systems, lead to a rare monogenic disease called the STAT3 loss-of-function, autosomal dominant hyper-IgE syndrome (STAT3LOF AD-HIES). The original name for this syndrome, Job's syndrome, was derived from the observation that patients had a propensity to develop skin boils, reminiscent of the affliction cast upon the biblical Job. Many fascinating observations have been made regarding the pathogenesis of the disease and the role STAT3 plays in human health and disease.

One of the major issues in management of the acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is classification of patients with atypical presentation who have low risk of having a coronary episode at presentation. There have been multiple studies on the stratification of high risk patients and medical management of such cases, however, there is a sub-class of patients who do not fit any category. In this paper, we have looked at the current literature on stratification of patients based on the study tools available and the risk of having a coronary episode during the following year.

Hyper-IgE may be found under many pathological conditions. The role of IgE is essentially associated with the occurrence of allergic manifestations, which may be accompanied by an increase of their serum levels. Elevation of total IgE has also been reported in association with certain rare genetic immune deficiencies called hyper-IgE syndromes.

Patients with psychotic disorders are at risk of developing mental health and social problems, and physical disorders. To monitor and treat these problems when indicated, an annual routine outcome monitoring program, Pharmacotherapy Monitoring and Outcome Survey (PHAMOUS), was developed. This paper presents the background and content of PHAMOUS, implementation of PHAMOUS, characteristics of the patients screened in 2015, and the outcome of patients with three annual screenings between 2011 and 2015.

Professional burnout syndrome has been described in association with insomnia and metabolic, inflammatory and immune correlates. We investigated the interest of exploring biological parameters and sleep disturbances in relation to burnout symptoms among white-collar workers. Fifty-four participants with burnout were compared to 86 healthy control participants in terms of professional rank level, sleep, job strain (Karasek questionnaire), social support, anxiety and depression (HAD scale).

In developing countries such as Mexico, the effects of burnout syndrome (BS) are observed in manufacturing industries. However, the relationships among BS, Job Content (JC), and Musculoskeletal Complaints (MC) are scarcely studied within the manufacturing sector, even though senior and middle managers are exposed to highly demanding and mentally exhausting situations.
The objective of this paper is to determine the relationships among the three BS dimensions, MC, and JC among middle and senior managers of the manufacturing industry in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.

An understanding of factors associated with this syndrome in this population could foster new prevention and intervention strategies. The objectives were to evaluate the levels of burnout in each of its dimensions in a sample of palliative care health professionals and to analyze the relationship between levels of burnout and sociodemographic, occupational and lifestyle characteristics in this sample.

Chest pain is a common complaint in the emergency department, and it is the job of clinicians to rule out life-threatening diagnoses such as acute coronary syndrome. The history, physical examination, cardiac risk factors, electrocardiogram findings, and clinician judgment are often not enough to distinguish between causes of chest pain syndromes and to reliably rule out acute myocardial ischemia. New cardiac troponin assays, especially in conjunction with clinical decision algorithms, help clinicians rapidly exclude acute myocardial infarction.

Similarly, time-weighted average (TWA), peak, and typical exposure techniques used to quantity physical exposure from multi-task jobs have shown between-technique agreement ranging from 61% to 93%, depending upon whether the SI or TLV for HAL model was used.

Over the last 40 years, job burnout has attracted a great deal of attention among researchers and practitioners and, after decades of research and interventions, it is still regarded as an important issue. With the aim of extending the Anxiety Buffer Disruption Theory (ABDT), in this paper we argue that high levels of burnout may disrupt the anxiety buffer functioning that protects people from death concerns. ABDT was developed from Terror Management Theory (TMT).

Similarly, time-weighted-average (TWA), Peak, and Typical exposure techniques to quantify physical exposure from multi-task jobs make different assumptions about each task's contribution to the whole job exposure. Thus, task and job physical exposure classifications differ depending upon which model and technique are used for quantification.
