To evaluate the radiation dose reduction, image quality and diagnostic confidence with thoraco-abdominopelvic computed tomography (TACT) using a new organ based dose modulation system (liver dose right index [Liver DRI]), compared to TACT using a standard automatic exposure control adjusting mA according to attenuation.
A total of 37 patients who had two TACT examinations on 2 different CT scanners, one using standard automatic exposure control (combination of a DoseRight automatic current selection and Z modulation) and one using Liver DRI were included. There were 19 men and 18 women with a mean age of 67.

We illustrate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a chronic gynaecological condition affecting women of reproductive age and may cause pelvic pain and infertility. It is characterized by the growth of functional ectopic endometrial glands and stroma outside the uterus and includes three different manifestations: ovarian endometriomas, peritoneal implants, deep pelvic endometriosis.

Weakened pelvic floor support is believed to be the main cause of various pelvic floor disorders. Modern theories of pelvic floor support stress on the structural and functional integrity of multiple structures and their interplay to maintain normal pelvic floor functions. Connective tissues provide passive pelvic floor support while pelvic floor muscles provide active support through voluntary contraction.

Urinary incontinence (UI) affects as many as 50% of women aged 60 years and older, but UI pathophysiology, specifically in elderly women, remains unclear. A better understanding of morphometric differences between continent and urinary incontinent elderly women is needed to improve the effectiveness of conservative treatment approaches. We hypothesized that morphometric differences in the pelvic floor muscles (PFM) among elderly women with and without UI could be observed using three- and four-dimensional (3D/4D) transperineal ultrasound (TPU) imaging.

Puberty is a critical age for patients with Turner syndrome (TS): infertility is reported to be linked to karyotype and spontaneous puberty and menarche occur in approximately 30% of patients, especially in mosaicism. However, it is not always predictable considering hormonal pattern and pelvic transabdominal ultrasound scan (US).The aim of the study is to compare the accuracy of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and US to evaluate uterine and gonads volume, to visualize the presence of follicles and to predict spontaneous puberty and menarche in girls with TS.

Intrauterine device (IUD) is a widely used long-acting contraceptive method; however, the side-effects related to IUD may lead to method discontinuation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relation between the most common side-effects of IUD use; mainly dysmenorrhea, menorrhaghia, pelvic cramping and the relation of these complications with the position of the IUD device within the cavity and uterine dimensions evaluated by transvaginal ultrasonography.
Two hundred and eighty-four patients who had Cu-T380A IUD insertion at the Family Planning Clinic of a tertiary health center were evaluated at insertion and 6 and 12 weeks after the insertion.

Design: Diagnostic studies-concordance between diagnostic tests.
The purpose of this study was to develop a novel spinopelvic parameter (Berbeo-Sardi angle [BSA], the angle formed at the intersection of a line that connects the inferior margin of the sacroiliac joint to the midpoint of a horizontal line joining both femoral heads) measurable in anteroposterior radiographs that indirectly estimates pelvic retroversion and correlates with traditional measurements like pelvic tilt (PT).
Sagittal balance appraisal and surgical planning rely on the interpretation of spinopelvic parameters.

Staging and therapeutic planning for dogs with malignant disease in the popliteal lymph node are based on the expected patterns of lymphatic drainage from the lymph node. The medial iliac lymph nodes are known to receive efferent lymph from the popliteal lymph node; however, an accessory popliteal efferent pathway with direct connection to the sacral lymph nodes has also been less frequently reported. The primary objective of this prospective, anatomic study was to describe the frequency of various patterns of lymphatic drainage of the popliteal lymph node.

To test whether duplicate imaging relates to a lack of information sharing among providers, we measured the association between emergency department (ED) switching during a kidney stone episode and receipt of a repeat computed tomography (CT) scan.
Using the MarketScan Commercial Claims and Encounters Database, we identified adults between the ages 18 and 64 with an ED visit for a diagnosis of kidney stones. Among patients who had an abdominal or pelvic CT scan at their initial encounter, we then determined the subset that made an ED revisit within 30 days of their first, distinguishing between those to the same vs a different ED.

The extent of scarring or renal interstitial collagen deposition in chronic kidney disease (CKD) can only be ascertained by highly invasive, painful and sometimes risky, tissue biopsy. Interestingly, while CKD-related abnormalities in kidney size can often be visualized using ultrasound, not only does the ellipsoid formula used today underestimate true renal size, but the calculated renal size does not inform tubulointerstitial collagen content. We used coronal kidney sections from healthy mice and mice with kidney disease to develop a new formula for estimating renal parenchymal area.
