The open reading frame 2 (ORF2) of Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) encodes the major Capsid (Cap) protein, which self-assembles into virus-like particle (VLP) of similar morphology to the PCV2 virion and accumulates in the nucleus through the N-terminal arginine-rich nuclear localization signal (NLS). In this study, PCV2 Cap protein and its derivates were expressed via the baculovirus expression system, and the cellular localization of the recombinant proteins were investigated using anti-Cap mAb by imaging flow cytometry. Analysis of subcellular localization of Cap protein and its variants demonstrated that NLS mediated Cap protein nuclear export as well as nuclear import, and a phosphorylation site (S17) was identified by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) in the NLS domain to regulate Cap protein nuclear export.

Two strains of PRRSVs were isolated in 2006 and 2016, respectively, and designated as FZ06A and FZ16A. Through the inoculation experiments, it was shown that FZ06A caused 100% morbidity and 60% mortality, while FZ16A caused 100% morbidity without death. By using genomic sequence and phylogenetic analyses, close relation of Chinese highly pathogenic PRRSV strain with FZ06A and FZ16A strains was achieved.

An efficient method to synthesize well-crystallized inorganic cesium lead halide perovskites (CsPbX3, X = I or Br) with high yield and high reproducibility was proposed. Notably, the as-prepared CsPbI3 in the yellow orthorhombic phase (y-CsPbI3) can be easily converted to the black cubic perovskite phase CsPbI3 (b-CsPbI3) after thermal annealing. Furthermore, two-terminal photodetectors and all-inorganic perovskite solar cells based on b-CsPbI3 were fabricated, exhibiting high performances.

Here we report a facile one-step solution-phase process to directly grow ultrathin MoS2 nanofilms on a transparent conductive glass as a novel high-performance counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells. After an appropriate reaction time, the entire surface of the conductive glass substrate was uniformly covered by ultrathin MoS2 nanofilms with a thickness of only several stacked layers. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry reveal that the MoS2 nanofilms possess excellent catalytic activity towards tri-iodide reduction.

Bacteria can change its lifestyle during inhabiting in host niches where they survive and replicate by rapidly altering gene expression pattern to accommodate the new environment. Solution-processed organic-inorganic hybrids composing of MoO3 nanoparticles and PEDOT:PSS were developed for use in inverted organic solar cells as hole transporting layer (HTL). The hybrid MoO3:PEDOT:PSS inks were prepared by simply mixing PEDOT:PSS aqueous and MoO3 ethanol suspension together. Brucellosis is a serious zoonosis that occurs worldwide, and its diagnosis is typically based on the detection of antibodies against Brucella lipopolysaccharide (LPS). A CpG-enriched recombinant plasmid (pUC18-CpG) as an adjuvant of FMD killed vaccine was tested for immunization and vaccination challenge in a porcine model. Our preliminary results had indicated that the recombinant plasmid could enhance the humoral immune response triggered by the traditional oil-adjuvant vaccine after the initial inoculation. Marek's disease virus (MDV) causes an acute lymphoproliferative disease in chickens, resulting in immunosuppression, which is considered to be an integral aspect of the pathogenesis of Marek's disease (MD). A recent study showed that deletion of the Meq gene resulted in loss of transformation of T-cells in chickens and a Meq-null virus, rMd5ΔMeq, could provide protection superior to CVI988/Rispens.

Following Escherichia coli lysis with alkali, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was directly titrated into the supernatant. An easy and feasible technology for plasmid purification was established with the optimized proportion between the quantity of CTAB and plasmid, combined with the specific solution for DNA release and TritonX-114 for endotoxin removal.
