Decreased expression of miR-551b-3p has been identified in gastric cancer tissues but its biological role and underlying mechanism in this malignancy is poorly understood. In this study, we show that the expression of miR-551b-3p negatively correlates with the depth of tumour invasion and lymphatic metastasis, but it positively correlates with tumour differentiation and the patient survival. MiR-551b-3p negatively affects the proliferation, mobility and invasiveness of gastric cancer cells.

Current magnetic relaxation switching (MRS) sensors for detection of trace targets in complex samples still suffer from limitations in terms of relatively low sensitivity and poor stability. To meet this challenge, we develop a longitudinal relaxation time (T1)-based nanosensor by using Mn2+ released from the reduction of MnO2 nano-assembly that can induce the change of T1, thus can greatly improve the sensitivity and overcome the "hook effect" of conventional MRS. Through the specific interaction between antigen and antibody-functionalized MnO2 nano-assembly, the T1 signal of Mn2+ released from the nano-assembly is quantitatively determined by the antigen, which allows for highly sensitive and straightforward detection of targets.

The meta-analysis in this article took a cross-cultural perspective to explore whether there were any differences between the effects of cyber victimization and traditional victimization on the presence of depression and anxiety in children and adolescents and to examine the effects of moderators in explaining these differences/similarities. The recombinant plasmid pPIC9K-bgl1 containing β-glucosidase bgl1 from Trichoderma viride was constructed by overlapping PCR and integrated into Pichia pastoris KM71. In order to assist the formation of disulfide bonds and thus improve protein folding efficiency, protein disulfide isomerase pdi was co-expressed in the P. pastoris KM71/pPIC9K-bgl1/pPICZ-A-pdi strain, and fermentation in flasks resulted in enzyme activity of 143 U/ml.

The study is aimed to investigate the role of MDM2 in the pathogenesis of lupus nephritis (LN) in pediatric SLE (pSLE). We confirmed that MDM2 expression was increased in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) as well as renal specimen of SLE compared with that of controls by western blot and immunofluorescence staining. Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (Pck1) is a metabolic enzyme that is integral to the gluconeogenic and glyceroneogenic pathway. However, the role of Pck1 in macrophage metabolism and function is unknown. Two strains of PRRSVs were isolated in 2006 and 2016, respectively, and designated as FZ06A and FZ16A. Through the inoculation experiments, it was shown that FZ06A caused 100% morbidity and 60% mortality, while FZ16A caused 100% morbidity without death. By using genomic sequence and phylogenetic analyses, close relation of Chinese highly pathogenic PRRSV strain with FZ06A and FZ16A strains was achieved.

Natural hydrogels have attracted extensive research interest and shown great potential for many biomedical applications. In this study, a series of biocompatible hydrogels was reported based on the self-assembly of positively charged partially deacetylated α-chitin nanofibers (α-DECHN) and negatively charged 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized cellulose nanofibers (TOCNF) for anticancer drug delivery. The formation mechanisms of the α-DECHN/TOCNF hydrogels with different mixing proportions were studied, and their morphological, mechanical, and swelling properties were comprehensively investigated.

To evaluate the application of the fast-track surgery (FTS) concept in the nursing care of andrological patients during the perioperative period.
A total of 200 males to be treated by andrological surgery were included in a control group and another 200 in an observation group, the former received conventional perioperative nursing care, while the latter underwent an FTS nursing care procedure including a variety of proven effective methods to reduce surgical stress and achieve a quick recovery during the perioperative period. Comparisons were made between the two groups of patients in the postoperative enterokinesia time, anal exhaust time, eating time, off-bed time, defecating time, bowel preparation complications, and degree of comfort and satisfaction.

Plant growth stimulators, 2-azahypoxanthine (AHX) and 2-aza-8-oxohypoxanthine (AOH), were isolated from the fairy-ring-forming fungus, Lepista sordida, and AHX-treated rice, respectively. Adaptation to hyperosmotic stress is important for the health of corneal epithelial cells exposed to changes in extracellular osmolarity, with maladaptation leading to dry eye syndrome. Using ultrafast degenerate pump-probe spectroscopy, we have investigated the ultrafast exciton dynamics of monolayer MoSe2 at different pump fluences. The exciton-exciton annihilation, typically occurring tens of picoseconds after pump excitation, has been found to have a substantial correlation with the initial relaxation process dominated by the defect trapping of excitons. A new exciton-exciton annihilation model has been proposed by introducing a coupling term that accounts for the initial relaxation contribution.

Human pregnane X receptor (hPXR) is a nuclear receptor that regulates the expression of phase I and phase II drug-metabolism enzymes, as well as that of drug transporters. hPXR is a "xenobiotics sensor" and can be activated by structurally diverse compounds. The activation of hPXR by its agonists increases the clearance of xenobiotics by increasing the expression of drug-metabolism enzymes and drug transporters, possibly leading to drug toxicity, drug resistance, and other adverse drug reactions.
