According to National Cancer Institute, there are approximately 39,800 rectal cancer cases per year, 25% of which will need an abdominoperineal resection (APR). The key to avoid most of the complications related to pelvic defect that occurs after APR is choosing an appropriate reconstruction option for perineum. This study aims to introduce an easily applicable flap option for closure to address postoperative pelvic defect in low rectal cancer.

Reconstruction of the first ray is challenging because of poor skin laxity, bone and tendon exposure, and limited local flap options. Repair using full- or split-thickness skin grafts is generally not an option because of the bone and tendon exposure. Reconstructive options using local flaps from the distal foot area are restricted owing to insufficient soft tissue.

Frontal sinus fractures constitute 5% to 15% of maxillofacial fractures, and isolated anterior table injuries account for 33% of frontal sinus fractures. The treatment strategy of frontal sinus fractures should be individualized according to the extent of the injury. Endoscope-assisted repair without any fixation method for the treatment of mildly and moderately displaced (1-5 mm) and closed isolated anterior table frontal sinus fractures is a good alternative technique for treatment.

Early closure of cranial sutures results in various types of cranial vault deformities, named craniosynostosis. Although mostly associated with syndromic cases, bony orbit deformities such as exorbitism can be seen with various types of craniosynostosis. This condition can be associated with papilledema and besides its effect on the patient's appearance can cause subluxation of the globe, lagophthalmos or keratitis resulting in corneal ulcers and ultimately loss of vision.

The tarsal plate is the skeleton support system of the eyelids; therefore, repair during eyelid reconstruction is crucial. Many autogenous graft materials have been proposed for the tarsal reconstruction, such as nasal cartilage, palatal mucosa, upper eyelid tarsus, and auricular cartilage. Nail thickness and shape are similar to the tarsal plate with enough support for the eyelid.

Random-pattern skin flaps are used widely in plastic surgery, but necrosis resulting from ischaemia in the distal sections of the flap is a serious problem. Free oxygen radicals and the accumulation of increased neutrophil granulocytes play important roles in tissue injury and may lead to partial or complete necrosis of the flap. Amniotic membrane is a biomaterial used widely in clinical settings to prevent the infiltration and activation of leucocytes.

Nasal dermoid cysts are one of the most frequent congenital pathologic lesions of the nasal area. These lesions may have intracranial extensions without any clinical evidence, which can be explained by the pathophysiologic development of the lesion, thought to be related to a delay or pause during the separation period of the dura and skin during embryogenesis. This factor is independent from the location and size of the lesion and may lead surgeons to misdiagnoses or inadequate treatments.

Management of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders presenting with pain, restricted mouth opening, or simply asymptomatic clicking can be challenging even to the experienced surgeon. Many conservative and invasive techniques are available, but most cases can be treated by arthrocentesis of the joint locally. A simple process of joint irrigation enables lysis of intra-articular adhesions, change in the joint viscosity, and clearance of various substances in the joint fluid.

Pericranial flap is a composite flap involving the periosteum of the skull with its overlying loose areolar tissue termed subgaleal fascia. The multiple blood supply of the pericranial tissue enables this versatility, with a rich, anastomosing arterial supply from the supraorbital, supratrochlear, superficial temporal, posterior auricular, and occipital vessels. Thus, the shape, size, and location of the pericranial flap could be altered as long as a sufficient pedicle width could be fashioned to maintain a blood supply.

Cutaneous silica granuloma is a poorly understood, uncommon condition. There have been relatively few reports of cutaneous silica granuloma despite the well-known ubiquitous nature of silica in the environment. The characteristic latency period between the time of silica exposure to the time of clinical onset of granuloma, lack of clear-cut histories of exposure in most cases and likelihood of spontaneous resolution, may challenge the diagnosis.
