Despite tremendous efforts made for years, trajectory tracking control (TC) of a nonholonomic mobile robot (NMR) without global positioning system remains an open problem. In this study, we investigate whether miR-128 is capable of regulating the apoptosis and proliferation of human U251 glioma cells by downregulating RhoE. The expression of miR-128 was assessed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction in normal brain tissue and glioma samples. Therapeutic applications of microRNAs (miRNAs) in chemotherapy were confirmed to be valuable, but there is rare to identify their specific roles and functions in shikonin treatment toward tumors. Here, for the first time, we reported that miR-143 played a critical role in the antitumor activity of shikonin in glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs). In this paper, the task-space cooperative tracking control problem of networked robotic manipulators without task-space velocity measurements is addressed. To overcome the problem without task-space velocity measurements, a novel task-space position observer is designed to update the estimated task-space position and to simultaneously provide the estimated task-space velocity, based on which an adaptive cooperative tracking controller without task-space velocity measurements is presented by introducing new estimated task-space reference velocity and acceleration. Furthermore, adaptive laws are provided to cope with uncertain kinematics and dynamics and rigorous stability analysis is given to show asymptotical convergence of the task-space tracking and synchronization errors in the presence of communication delays under strongly connected directed graphs.

Though previous study demonstrated that shikonin could exert its antitumor activity by inducing apoptosis and necrosis, the pro-survival mechanisms involved in its antitumor process are still little to know. In the present study, for the first time, we found a protective mechanism was simultaneously activated which caused the reduced sensitivity of glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) to the cytotoxicity of shikonin. Reduced active caspase-9 expression and enhanced mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) were intriguingly observed within 24 h treatment by shikonin in GSCs.

After demonstrating bradykinin (BK) could increase the permeability of blood-tumor barrier (BTB) via opening the tight junction (TJ), and that the possible mechanism is unclear, we demonstrated that BK could increase the expressions of eNOS and nNOS and promote ZONAB translocation into nucleus. NOS inhibitors l-NAME and 7-NI could effectively block the effect of BK on increasing BTB permeability, decreasing the expressions of claudin-5 and occludin and promoting the translocation of ZONAB. Overexpression of ZONAB could significantly enhance BK-mediating BTB permeability.

MicroRNA-34a (miR-34a) functions to regulate protein expression at the posttranscriptional level by binding the 3' UTR of target genes and regulates functions of vascular endothelial cells. However, the role of miR-34a in regulating blood-tumor barrier (BTB) permeability remains unknown. This paper presents a novel and simple adaptive algorithm for estimating the position of a mobile robot with high accuracy in an unknown and unstructured environment by fusing images of an omnidirectional vision system with measurements of odometry and inertial sensors. Based on a new derivation where the omnidirectional projection can be linearly parameterized by the positions of the robot and natural feature points, we propose a novel adaptive algorithm, which is similar to the Slotine-Li algorithm in model-based adaptive control, to estimate the robot's position by using the tracked feature points in image sequence, the robot's velocity, and orientation angles measured by odometry and inertial sensors. It is proved that the adaptive algorithm leads to global exponential convergence of the position estimation errors to zero.

By the method of pitfall trap sampling, an investigation was conducted on the carabid assemblage in four typical habitats (maize field, peanut field, orchard, and semi-natural woodland) in the agricultural landscape in Xitiange Village of Miyun County, Beijing. Among the four habitats, orchard had the highest alpha-diversity of carabid assemblage, followed by woodland and maize field, and peanut field had the lowest one. The species composition of the assemblage in woodland, peanut field, and orchard had evident difference, but was similar to that in maize field to some extent.
