After decades of research, there is still no solution for indoor localization like the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) solution for outdoor environments. The major reasons for this phenomenon are the complex spatial topology and RF transmission environment. To deal with these problems, an indoor scene constrained method for localization is proposed in this paper, which is inspired by the visual cognition ability of the human brain and the progress in the computer vision field regarding high-level image understanding.

Moment-to-moment reaction time variability on tasks of attention, often quantified by intra-individual response variability (IRV), provides a good indication of the degree to which an individual is vulnerable to lapses in sustained attention. Increased IRV is a hallmark of several disorders of attention, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Here, task-based fMRI was used to provide the first examination of how average brain activation and functional connectivity patterns in adolescents are related to individual differences in sustained attention as measured by IRV.

To implement and validate low-loss ratio-adjustable power splitters (RAPS) for array-compressed parallel transmission (acpTx).
In acpTx, a small number of transmit channels drive a larger number of transmit coils, which are connected via an array compression network that implements optimized coil-to-channel combinations. Previous networks comprised a bank of power splitters, followed by attenuators to implement the amplitudes of the compression weights for each coil, but this resulted in high power dissipation in the network.

Hepatocyte death, as well as the following inflammatory and fibrogenic signaling cascades, is the key trigger of liver fibrosis. Here, we isolated hepatocytes from CCl-induced fibrotic liver and found that hepatocyte lincRNA-p21 significantly increased during liver fibrosis. The increase of hepatocyte lincRNA-p21 was associated with the loss of miR-30, which can inhibit TGF-β signaling by targeting KLF11.

Soy protein isolate (SPI) was hydrolyzed by compound enzymes to give water soluble low molecular soy protein (SP). SP and folic acid (FA) modified SP was polymerized with N-3- acrylamidophenylboronic acid (APBA) monomer in aqueous solution to give SP nanoparticles (SP NPs) and FA modified nanoparticles (FA-SP NPs), respectively. These NPs display excellent stability in different conditions, and have a uniform spherical shape with a diameter around of 200nm.

The goal of this work is to develop software that enables the rapid implementation of custom MRI spectrometers using commercially-available software defined radios (SDRs). The developed gr-MRI software package comprises a set of Python scripts, flowgraphs, and signal generation and recording blocks for GNU Radio, an open-source SDR software package that is widely used in communications research. gr-MRI implements basic event sequencing functionality, and tools for system calibrations, multi-radio synchronization, and MR signal processing and image reconstruction.

Substance misusers, including adolescent smokers, often have reduced reward system activity during processing of non-drug rewards. Using a psychophysiological interaction approach, we examined functional connectivity with the ventral striatum during reward anticipation in a large (N = 206) sample of adolescent smokers. Increased smoking frequency was associated with (1) increased connectivity with regions involved in saliency and valuation, including the orbitofrontal cortex and (2) reduced connectivity between the ventral striatum and regions associated with inhibition and risk aversion, including the right inferior frontal gyrus.

To design array-compressed parallel transmit radiofrequency (RF) pulses and compare them to pulses designed with existing transmit array compression strategies.
Array-compressed parallel RF pulse design is proposed as the joint optimization of a matrix of complex-valued compression weights that relate a full-channel physical array to a reduced-channel virtual array, along with a set of RF pulses for the virtual array. In this way, the physics of the RF pulse application determine the coil combination weights.

Previous studies on insight problem solving using Chinese logogriphs as insight problems only investigated the time- and phase-locked changes of electrocortical responses triggered by Chinese logogriphs, but did not focus on what kind of brain state facilitates individuals to solve insight problems. To investigate this, we focused on participants' alpha activities (8-12 Hz) that closely correlates with insight problem solving and defocused attention while they were solving Chinese logogriphs. Results indicated that in the time window of 800-1400 ms after the presentation of target logogriphs, alpha power over parieto-central electrodes decreased relative to the reference interval in both the successful and unsuccessful logogriphs solving conditions.

To design multichannel large-tip-angle kT-points and spokes radiofrequency (RF) pulses and gradient waveforms for transmit field inhomogeneity compensation in high field magnetic resonance imaging.
An algorithm to design RF subpulse weights and gradient blip areas is proposed to minimize a magnitude least-squares cost function that measures the difference between realized and desired state parameters in the spin domain, and penalizes integrated RF power. The minimization problem is solved iteratively with interleaved target phase updates, RF subpulse weights updates using the conjugate gradient method with optimal control-based derivatives, and gradient blip area updates using the conjugate gradient method.

Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) is crucial for transdifferentiation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and the blunting of TGF-β signaling in HSCs can effectively prevent liver fibrosis. Krüppel-like factor 11 (KLF11) is an early response transcription factor that potentiates TGF-β/Smad signaling by suppressing the transcription of inhibitory Smad7. Using a mouse model of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver fibrosis, we observed significant upregulation of KLF11 in the activated HSCs during liver fibrogenesis.

Introduce a novel compressed sensing reconstruction method to accelerate proton resonance frequency shift temperature imaging for MRI-induced radiofrequency heating evaluation.
A compressed sensing approach that exploits sparsity of the complex difference between postheating and baseline images is proposed to accelerate proton resonance frequency temperature mapping. A new mathematical treatment and algorithm for the design of |B1(+)|-selective RF excitation pulses is presented and validated. The algorithm is based on a rotated Shinnar-Le Roux pulse design algorithm, wherein the pulse's frequency modulation waveform is directly designed by the algorithm, and its amplitude and sign modulation waveform takes the place of the gradient field. A new pulse configuration is described that enables excitation of large tip-angle slice-selective profiles.

To describe and introduce new software capable of accurately simulating MR signal, noise, and specific absorption rate (SAR) given arbitrary sample, sequence, static magnetic field distribution, and radiofrequency magnetic and electric field distributions for each transmit and receive coil.
Using fundamental equations for nuclear precession and relaxation, signal reception, noise reception, and calculation of SAR, a versatile MR simulator was developed. The resulting simulator was tested with simulation of a variety of sequences demonstrating several common imaging contrast types and artifacts.

Microscopic vision measurement precision has been largely limited by inaccurately calibrated model parameters, because image plane is near parallel to reference plane in the narrow depth of field. This article proposes a method of precise microscopic vision measurement based on the adaptive positioning of the camera coordinate frame. The microscopic vision measurement movably attaches the origin of the camera coordinate frame along the optical axis.
