Integrin αV (ITGAV) gene expression is often dysregulated in cancers especially in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); however, the mechanism of regulation is poorly understood. Here, it is demonstrated that sulfatide activated integrin αV gene transcription, through histone H3K9/14 acetylation at the promoter, and high integrin αV expression are closely associated with poor prognosis. To elucidate the mechanism of regulation of acetylation, sulfatide-bound proteins were screened by mass spectrometry (MS), and BRD1 (bromodomain containing protein 1) was identified as an interacting protein that also co-localized with sulfatide in HCC cells.

A method is proposed to obtain high-resolution 2-D -resolved nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra in inhomogeneous magnetic fields.
The proposed experiment enables the acquisition of an entire 2-D spectrum in a single scan by utilizing intermolecular double-quantum coherences and the spatial encoding of NMR observables.
Chemical shifts, coupling constants, and multiplet patterns are recovered even when field inhomogeneities are severe enough to completely obscure conventional NMR spectra.

To obtain a comprehensive overview of the dynamic transcriptome during male floral bud development in Populus tomentosa, high-throughput RNA-seq was conducted during eight flowering-related stages. Among the 109,212 de novo assembled unigenes, 6,959 were differentially expressed during the eight stages. The overrepresented classed of genes identified by Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment included 'response to environmental stimuli' and 'plant-type spore development'.

The feasibility of using the spin-echo based diagonal peak suppression method in solid-state MAS NMR homonuclear chemical shift correlation experiments is demonstrated. A complete phase cycling is designed in such a way that in the indirect dimension only the spin diffused signals are evolved, while all signals not involved in polarization transfer are refocused for cancellation. A data processing procedure is further introduced to reconstruct this acquired spectrum into a conventional two-dimensional homonuclear chemical shift correlation spectrum.

A two-stage artificial neural network (ANN) based on scalarization method is proposed for bilevel biobjective programming problem (BLBOP). The induced set of the BLBOP is firstly expressed as the set of minimal solutions of a biobjective optimization problem by using scalar approach, and then the whole efficient set of the BLBOP is derived by the proposed two-stage ANN for exploring the induced set. Extended from superpixel segmentation by adding an additional constraint on temporal consistency, supervoxel segmentation is to partition video frames into atomic segments. In this work, we propose a novel scheme for supervoxel segmentation to address the problem of new and moving objects, where the segmentation is performed on every two consecutive frames and thus each internal frame has two valid superpixel segmentations. This scheme provides coarse-grained parallel ability, and subsequent algorithms can validate their result using two segmentations that will further improve robustness.

Previous studies showed that miR-373 had the capacity to induce tumor suppressor gene E-cadherin expression in prostate cancer cells. However, whether miR-373 can activate the expression of E-cadherin in human bladder cancer (BCa) cells and inhibit cells remains to be elucidated. A new diffusion-mapping method based on single-shot overlapping-echo detachment (DM-OLED) planar-imaging sequence, along with a corresponding separation algorithm, is proposed to achieve reliable quantitative diffusion mapping in a single shot. The method can resist the effects of motion and help in detecting the quick variation of diffusion under different physiological status.
The echo-planar imaging method is combined with two excitation pulses with small flip angle to gain overlapping-echo signal in a single shot.

In this paper, we propose a new visual-inertial Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithm. In order to preliminarily explore the joint involvement of different immune-related factors during the same immune process in Apostichopus japonicus, the transcriptional expression of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (Cu/Zn-SOD), catalase (CAT), c-type lysozyme (c-LYZ), i-type lysozyme (i-LYZ), cathepsin D, melanotransferrin (MTF), Toll, c-type lectin (c-LCT) and complement 3 (C3) during the development from fertilized eggs to juveniles and after challenging the juveniles with Vibrio splendidus, Pseudoalteromonas nigrifaciens, Shewanella baltica and Bacillus cereus, respectively, was measured using the method of quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), and then the correlations among different immune-related factors were analyzed. The results showed that the selected immune-related factors were expressed at all of the determined developmental stages and significantly up-regulated at doliolaria stage, suggesting the selected factors are indispensable immune components and the immune system might be broadly activated at doliolaria stage in A. japonicus.

Pain sensitization after partial infraorbital nerve transection (p-IONX) in mice not only presents in orofacial region, but also spreads to distant body parts. The roles of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in orofacial pain and the spreading process are still unclear. Here, we found that mice with deficient TLR4 because of Tr4 gene point mutation (C3H/HeJ) or spontaneous deletion (C57BL/10ScNJ) developed tactile allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia in the vibrissal pad in a parallel way to their respective wild types (C3HeB/FeJ or C57BL/6J) after p-IONX.
